Why Do We Need Faith

Why Do We Need Faith – There are people trying to earn their way to heaven. They do good and obey God’s commands – at least most of them. They work hard all their lives to get God’s attention. Sure, when their time comes, God will open the door to heaven.

With a broad smile and a friendly gesture, he will say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” But he could say, “Go away, I do not know you.” They really aren’t sure. They hope they were good enough, but doubts remain.

Others laugh at this approach. They say you can’t earn your way to heaven. Eternal life is a gift given by grace and received by faith. They say a little prayer and think everything is fine. They have a get out of hell card.

Bible Verse Of The Day “faith Requires Believing”

Since heaven is a gift, they continue to live the same life. They have rejected God and live for themselves.

Is faith alone enough to save them? Maybe it is, maybe not. James writes that our actions, that is, our good works, confirm our faith.

Yes, we are saved by God’s grace through our faith, but then we prove it by showing others his love through our actions. You need to have faith and then do good works. Both are required.

Peter De Haan writes about biblical Christianity to challenge the orthodoxy and live a life that matters. He seeks a new approach to follow Jesus through the prism of Holy Scripture, without the baggage of invented traditions and meaningless practices. This sermon is based on Daniel 3:13-28. We All Live By Faith In Someone Or Something

Hard times. They come; they leave and then come back. It’s hardly fair, but such is life in a fallen world. Let’s face it: if hard times were dollars, we’d all be rich.

The Bible has a wide variety of stories about people in difficult, even impossible situations. The people are enslaved in Egypt. They are oppressed and conquered by foreign tyrants. They are exiled. They find themselves hungry and exhausted, wandering in the desert. Then there are the lepers, the possessed, the blind, the deaf, and the lame, each of whom is called in his misery. And don’t forget the dying, broken hearted and depressed. In each case there is one clear constant. People cry out to God for help.

What happens when we are overwhelmed and cry out to God? This is the main question we want to explore in this series we have called “What do we need now”. . . .” In him we will meet the God of mercy and compassion, the God who raises death and for whom nothing is impossible, the God who hears our prayers. In these difficult times it can be good to remember this.

Everyone lives by faith to some extent. When you go to a doctor, you need faith to trust his diagnosis. When the pharmacy fills you with a prescription, you trust that you are getting the right medicine. When you eat at a restaurant, you trust that the people serving you have not contaminated or poisoned the food. (Some restaurants require more faith than others.) Every day is a walk of faith on some level. . . .

Avoid Suffering Needlessly For Our Faith

We choose what we will believe. Someone chooses to believe in themselves, someone in the government, someone in evil, someone in science. . . some to God. The only person I knew who didn’t believe in anything ended up in a mental hospital because it was driving her crazy. Faith is something we cannot live without.

Faith is something we cannot die without either. Our faith determines what happens to us after we leave this world. If you believe in Jesus, you know that your eternal future is guaranteed.

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. —John 3:16

“If you have faith like a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move here and there,’ and it will move.” —Matthew 17:20
